Courses

  • COURSE | G323 | Fused glass mosaic: A monochromatic study (November 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026)

From ancient, tiled murals to contemporary abstracts, glass mosaics have long captivated us with their colour, pattern, and visual rhythm. But what if you could capture the expressive beauty of mosaic art without the mess or the limitations of a purely visual surface?

Welcome to fused glass mosaics — a tactile, dimensional, and surprisingly seamless approach to this timeless art form!

Over four evenings, participants will explore the creative possibilities of a monochromatic palette using 96 COE compatible glass to design and create a one-of-a-kind 12-inch × 18-inch fused glass mosaic.

Week one: Explore design principles including contrast, visual flow, composition, and expressionism, to develop your original mosaic design.

Weeks two and three: Discover the art of mosaic construction, experiment with monochromatic colour selection, and prepare your composition for kiln firing.

Week four: Bring your mosaic together with a glass grout application, revealing the finished composition and the beautiful interplay of colour, texture, and form. Experience the finishing process that transforms individual glass elements into a unified work of art!

You have to see it to believe it!

All project materials and kiln firings are included.
Beginner glass fusers are welcome. Glass cutting experience is required.

    When: Thursdays, November 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026, from 7 to 10 pm
Fee: $495 + HST (includes all project materials and kiln firings)

Celebrate the season with a little sparkle, a lot of personality, and your favourite four-legged friend! This multi-disciplinary workshop brings together the custom expression of 96 COE fused glass and glass accessories, painting with Glassline paint, and the timeless craft of copper foil stained glass to create a one-of-a-kind pet-inspired window corner. Think festive window art that catches the winter light and makes a heartfelt holiday gift — or a treasured addition to your own seasonal décor.

Perfect for animal lovers ready to expand their glass skills, participants will explore layering, painting, and kiln-firing glass elements before incorporating them into a traditionally constructed copper foil piece. Make it uniquely yours with an optional custom pattern created from a photo of your favourite fur baby — a wonderful way to capture their personality in glass and create a truly meaningful holiday keepsake!

Workshops

  • WORKSHOP | I470 | Let the glass speak: Stained glass layered landscape (November 7, 2026)

Sometimes, a piece of glass speaks for itself. Perhaps it’s a bold sweep of colour, a swirling pattern, or the unexpected beauty of a uniquely rolled edge. The challenge becomes: how do you cut into something that is already beautiful all on its own?

    Sometimes, you simply don’t!

Instead, explore the possibilities of layering, plating, and embellishing glass to preserve the qualities that first caught your eye. By combining glass with sheet copper, mirror, dimensional details, and found forms, you’ll discover new ways to build depth, texture, and visual interest without sacrificing the natural character of the glass.

In this one-day workshop, participants will work with Youghiogheny rolled glass ends, copper sheet and foil, mirror, box frames, and detailed animal forms to create a one-of-a-kind, 8-inch x 10-inch framed landscape that balances material, composition, and personal expression.

Whether it becomes a thoughtful gift for the nature lover in your life or an expressive sculptural piece to display and admire, your finished work will celebrate the beauty of letting the materials guide the art.

    All project materials are included.
Previous glass-cutting and soldering experience required.

When: Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm
Fee: $225 + HST (includes all project materials)

  • WORKSHOP | G322 | Fusing technique: Glassline exploration with Millean Kung (November 14, 2026)

Dabbing, streaking, and sponging, oh my! Explore the various textures and designs you can achieve using Glassline paint. Learn how to use a variety of brushes to develop certain effects. Then, apply these techniques when you create your own 16-inch x 10-inch charcuterie board. As well, you will receive basic tips on design elements.

All project materials and kiln firings included.
Some experience using Glassline paint would be an asset.

When: Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm
Fee: $195 + HST (includes all project materials and kiln firings)

  • WORKSHOP | I471 | Fused and foiled fun: Holiday mantel hook (November 28 and December 5, 2026)

Beautiful art glass is a joy to create, but when a treasured piece becomes functional as well as decorative, that’s when the magic really happens! Add another original to the holiday glass collection with a festive workshop that brings together stained glass, kiln-fired colour, and three-dimensional form.

Over two afternoons, participants will cut and shape 96 COE compatible glass, then personalize their creations with glass powders, frit, stringers, and the brilliant shimmer of dichroic glass. After kiln firing, participants will return to assemble and finish one of three seasonally inspired, three-dimensional glass sculptures, transforming their work into a unique decorative mantel hook mounted on a weighted metal base.

Whether it’s a playful seasonal accent or the next treasured addition to a growing collection of holiday glass art, this workshop celebrates the perfect trifecta: creativity, craftsmanship, and function!

All project materials and kiln firings are included.
Beginner glass fusers are welcome. Glass cutting and soldering experience required.
